Presentation Now Videos

Here is a sequence of videos revisiting the content of my book Presentation Now four years after it was published.

Make Presentations Less of a Drama (PN0)

Join me in a new (free) video series that will help you feel happier to be yourself when you're presenting.

Four incisive questions to make presentation planning (more of a) breeze (PN1)

Why 'what will I say?' is the last (or at least the penultimate) question we should ask ourselves when planning presentations, and four questions that are WILDLY better.

Three people aspects that make your presentation more nuanced (PN2)

The first presentation planning question you ask yourself is about who is going to be listening.

Why you don't want people to (just) understand your topic (PN3)

After you've thought about who your presentation is for, you think about the actions you'd like them to take. There are two major parts to actions - and you need to have both for people to actually do something. Features me talking very unknowledgeably about glassblowing, and my NEW MEG LIGHTHEART RADIO JINGLE...

How to quickly plan the meat of your presentation (whilst reducing your nerves in the process) (PN4)

In this video, you learn about the third question of the four presentation planning questions. It's this question which really allows you to become a more subtle and persuasive presenter, whilst destroying a major cause of nerves.

Make your recommendation more resonant (PN5)

Question four of the four presentation planning questions takes us into things deeply from the perspective of your listeners. This not only means your recommendation resonates more, but also stops you speaking in odd, bland or robotic ways.

Present your vision in a way everyone can engage with (PN6)

Research shows adults process complexity differently. If your vision is too... vision-y , some people won't follow you. Understanding the different stages people may be at, you've got more chance of everyone engaging with it.

Pause before you start planning what you're going to say (PN7)

Now you've looked at all the four planning questions, it's time to review a couple of things connected to the scope of your presentation.

Ingredients you want in your presentation (PN8)

Here are three ingredients you definitely want to consider when putting together your presentation.

The importance of getting signposting right in presentations (PN9)

Signposting is a super simple ingredient in presentations that gets either under- or over-used. Here's my best guidance to get the balance right.

Three more ingredients (and a bonus pattern) to add to your presentation (PN10)

Here are the final three ingredients I discuss in Presentation Now that help you be engaging and persuasive. On the spur of the moment I included a meta-pattern too which applies to most of the ingredients discussed in all three ingredients videos.

How to use keyword notes to be more conversational and engaging in a presentation (PN11)

Scripts are only (marginally) good at one, maybe two, of the following four: - Staying to time. - Speaking conversationally. - Being able to respond to surprises. - Remembering what you want to say. Unless you have a disability or condition that makes scripts essential, I would strongly recommend that you avoid word-for-word scripts.
