Climate panic
and what is
your work to do

With the headlines coming in about the IPCC report, I was chatting to a friend on Sunday about how the urgency around climate can feel less overwhelming if you have something to channel it into.

How you can use that urgency to stay the path if you're already on a path.

This really made me reflect.

  • Do you have a channel?

  • Do you know how to find your channel?

  • Do you know your next steps on your path?

(If you didn’t get to the Future You workshop - the questions in this write-up might be useful for you to find what’s right at least in the next few months.)

I don’t know if I’ve properly expressed that my channel, my next step, is the Learning Marathon.

I really, really feel it's the work I need to be doing - convening leaders to find their real work.

When I think about throwing in with a particular project, it just doesn't sit right with me. But when I work on convening people doing the work, supporting them, amplifying their voices - that feels like work that's using my skills.

Each participant on the Learning Marathon has their own area of inquiry, a learning/research question.

My learning question is

'How do I create in a way that most powerfully nudges us onto a better timeline?'

What that most immediately means is an interview project/podcast with people doing that 'nudging' work themselves, so that people listening can potentially be inspired to find their work, their channel for the urgency.

Holding the space for me and 11 other leaders/changemakers to consider what their work is to do - even inside the existing organisations they lead - is so exciting to me and it's why I've been talking so much about the Learning Marathon.

Above all, in this terrifying world, we need community, plus we need to know how to build community. Being a participant of the Learning Marathon helps you do both of those things.

Plus several people who've applied have this as an aspect of their learning question!

If you're a leader/changemaker who needs some time/space/energy to get That Project off the ground, or you need some space to reflect on you as a leader and what your real work is in this world, come see if the Learning Marathon is right for you.
